Hiking is most pleasant in the cooler, winter season or early in the day in warmer months. Visitors may hike along the 1.5 mile trail through the sandhills and hardwood hammock, along the powerline right-of-way, or across the 0.5-mile segment of the Florida Trail Association segment.
From Brooksville head north on 41 to Citrus County, turn right onto Deer Run Road to the sign. From Inverness head south on 41 to Hernando County, turn left onto Deer Run Road to the sign.
